Leizu - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Leizu - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Leizu - digital knitting pattern - PDF

“Leizu” was inspired by a ready-to-wear sweater seen in an online shop. While that sweater was a simple two-color brioche pullover, I wanted to design something similar, but without the heaviness of brioche fabric, something with the look of brioche, but actually much lighter. Gorgeous Julie Asselin Leizu DK seemed just the right material to achieve this!
“Leizu” is knit top-down and seamless featuring neckline and bottom back shaping with short rows. The sweater uses two colors, starting with a contrasting color. The entire body and raglan sleeves are worked with the main color in stockinette with wide ribbed panels at the sides. The contrasting color is added in again after body and sleeves have been completed to work both torso and sleeve ribbing with two colors. It is not brioche, but actually corrugated ribbing! (A few links to helpful technique videos are added for your convenience.)

Materials: * Julie Asselin Leizu DK (90% Merino, 10% Silk): 115g/ 260 yards [238 meters]. The sample is made with colorways “Birch” (MC) and “Elephant” (CC).

Fino - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Fino - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Fino - digital knitting pattern - PDF

“Fino” is not your average top-down sweater!

Slightly boxy at the top and with short-row shaped overcast shoulders, this pullover in A-line silhouette has a closer fit around the bust while flaring out towards the bottom in a casual way, culminating in a most nonchalant asymmetric pleat.

The pleat as well as the sleeves are knit in reverse stockinette for extra texture, and accented seams add further points of visual interest at the sides.

If you thought that was about as far as a laid-back sweater can go, wait until you’ve spun it around and discovered the delicate lace panel on the back! Its intricate stitch pattern truly matches the finery of the wonderfully delicate yarn that gave this garment its name - casual elegance at its best!

Peasant Surprise - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Peasant Surprise - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Peasant Surprise - digital knitting pattern - PDF

“Peasant Surprise” is worked seamlessly in one piece in the round from the top down. This sweater, featuring a yoke in combination of a Japanese lace pattern with a few texture patterns, surprises by its unusual shape, reminding of a peasant blouse, hence the name!

 The pattern includes several versions of the sweater: with cropped or longer body; regular, short, 3/4 length, and balloon sleeves; regular neckband, and i-cord neckline finishing. If the bulk of the pictured balloon sleeves (inspired by a sweater knit by one of my friends and testers, Beata) is too much for you, you can omit them and work a tamer version. As for me, I love them! They are roomy enough for complete freedom of movement, yet short enough not to be in the way when doing chores, or washing your hands.

Materials:

* Dye Dye Done Vegan (70% Bamboo, 30% Linen): 100g/ 437 yards [400 meters] or

* Dye Dye Done Pure Merino (100% Superwash Merino): 100g/ 437 yards [400 meters]

Aliyah - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Aliyah - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Aliyah - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Having been asked by Lucinda Iglesias, the owner of Mont-Tricot, to design something for an Artyarns Merino Cloud Gradients Kit, I thought a pullover would be a fitting item (no pun intended) for the wonderful gradient colorway picked by Lucinda.

The resulting garment is an all-occasion simple and wearable sweater featuring raglan sleeves, worked seamlessly from the top down with two strands of yarn held together in a simple broken rib pattern that provides visual interest while not distracting from the subtle color changes in the yarn.

Materials:

* Artyarns Merino Cloud Gradients Kit (80% Merino, 20% Cashmere). One kit = 4 skeins (4 colors) – 30g/ 135 yards [124 meters] each.

You will need 4 (4, 5, [5, 5, 5], 6, 6, 6) kits or total of 2000 (2080, 2200, [2320, 2440, 2560], 2720, 2920, 3120) yards [1830 (1900, 2020, [2120, 2230, 2340], 2490, 2670, 2850) meters] of any fingering weight yarn that knits up to gauge with TWO STRANDS HELD TOGHETHER = approx. 500 (520, 550, [580, 610, 640], 680, 730, 780) yards [460 (480, 500, [530, 560, 590], 630, 670, 720) meters] in each of 4 colors (C1, C2, C3, and C4).

The sample is knit in “Greens”.

* US 6 – 4 mm circular needle

* 4 stitch markers in one color (A)

* 1 stitch marker in a second color (B)

* stitch holder or scrap yarn

* crochet hook for provisional cast-on

Blue Danube - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Blue Danube - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Blue Danube - digital knitting pattern - PDF

With the Beautiful Blue Danube, I’m acquainted ever since I’ve been started teaching at the Vienna Wool Festival. Its gently lapping waves inspired me to the wave and cable patterns in this comfortable sweater, which is, as usual, worked seamlessly from the top down, and thanks to just the right amount of positive ease that hides problem zones without seeming shapeless, ever-so-slightly dropped shoulders with still fitted sleeves and a just a little bit curved hemline is just the right thing to wear for a stroll at the riverside or a visit to an open-air café.

Materials:
* The Plucky Knitters Plucky Feet (90% Merino Wool, 10% Nylon): 115g/ 425 yards [389 meters] – 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 4], 5, 5) skeins or approx. 1200 (1270, 1360, 1460, 1560, 1660], 1760, 1860) yards [1100 (1160, 1250, [1340, 1430, 1520], 1610, 1700) meters] of fingering weight yarn that knits up to gauge.

Color Me In - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Color Me In - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Color Me In - digital knitting pattern - PDF

I really like the new coloring books for grownups that have popped up everywhere lately – it’s so relaxing to color in those soothing patterns!

These books have been the inspiration for the whimsy colorwork pattern on the sleeves of this sweater, which is worked top down seamlessly in a textured slip stitch pattern. The double knit hem and cuffs are similar to those known from my “Anthro” sweater. Shoulders with accented shoulder “seams” are shaped with short rows, as are sleeve caps. The sleeves are worked in stockinette stitch with a two-color Fair-Isle pattern near the double-knit cuffs. The colorwork pattern will look at its best in a long color repeat gradient yarn with smooth color transitions, but you can use remnants in different colors, too, if you want to use up leftovers and don’t shy away from sewing in a lot of ends.

Materials:
* Main color (MC): Holst Garn Coast (55% Merino Wool, 45% Cotton): 50g/ 383 yards 350 meters – 5 (6, 6, [7, 7, 8], 8, 9, 9) skeins or approx. 1900 (2050, 2200, [2350, 2520, 2690], 2900, 3100, 3300) yards 1740 (1870, 2010, [2150, 2300, 2460], 2650, 2830, 3020) meters of light fingering weight yarn that knits up to gauge WITH TWO STRANDS OF YARN HELD TOGETHER.
Contrasting color (CC): Garnstudio Drops Delight (75% Wool, 25% Nylon): 50 g/ 191 yards [175 meters] – 1 skein or approx. 100 (110, 120, [130, 140, 150], 160, 170, 180) yards 80 (90, 100, [105, 110, 120], 130, 140, 150) meters of fingering weight yarn. For best results, use long color repeat gradient yarn with smooth color transitions.
The sample is made with colorways: Silver Grey (MC) and Green Blue Mix (16).

  • US 4 – 3.5 mm 24” 60 cm & 40” 100 cm circular needles or DPNs
  • US 6 – 4 mm 24” [60 cm] & 40” [100 cm] circular needles or DPNs
  • 4 stitch markers
  • stitch holder or scrap yarn
  • tapestry needle

Sizes:

81 (86, 91.5, [96.5, 101.5, 111.5], 122, 132, 139.5) cm bust circumference. Check final measurements on page 7.
The pullover is meant to be worn with up to 3” 7.5 cm of positive ease (already incorporated into the pattern).

Eilean - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Eilean - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Eilean - digital knitting pattern - PDF

“Eilean” (Gaelic for island) is a top-down seamless sweater, combining the best of yoke and raglan construction for an ultimate fit. Its slightly bell-shaped sleeves are comfortably wide, but not in the way, and the all-over texture makes this garment an entertaining knit. With a small amount of simple fair isle knitting on the yoke – just enough to be decorative, but not as much as to be intimidatingly complicated – it is a good project to get acquainted with colorwork in the round.
“Eilean” sweater is knit in our “Delicious” yarn – a gorgeous blend of baby alpaca, silk and cashmere that is pleasant to work with, and equally pleasant to wear.

Materials:
* Dye Dye Done Delicious (70% Alpaca, 20% Silk, 10% Cashmere): 100g/ 437 yards 400 meters

Eyeletta - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Eyeletta - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Eyeletta - digital knitting pattern - PDF

“Eyeletta” is a loosely fitting everyday sweater with a stretching eyelet pattern down the front and back. Worked top down seamlessly, with neckline and bottom shaping featuring German short rows, it requires almost no finishing at all, except for weaving in ends and an optional slight blocking to open up the eyelet columns. Perfect for first-time lace knitters with basic garment experience!

Shown in our very own Dye-Dye-Done wool/nylon blends, colorways “Smitten Kitten” and “Pink on Fire” demonstrate how different looks can be achieved just with color. You want to make two just to see how they turn out – one for yourself in a sensible neutral tone, and one in a spunky color for your daughter or niece (or the other way around).

Materials:
*Dye Dye Done Cozy Merino (85% Merino, 15% Nylon): 100g/ 437 yards [400 meters] – 3 (3, 4, [4, 4, 4], 5, 5, 5) skeins or approx. 1220 (1310, 1400, [1490, 1590, 1690], 1790, 1890, 1990) yards [1115 (1200, 1280, [1360, 1450, 1550], 1640, 1730, 1820) meters] of fingering weight yarn that knits up to gauge.
Both samples are size S1 worn with 4” [10 cm] of positive ease. Pink sweater is knit in colorway “Pink On Fire”, grey sweater is knit in colorway “Smitten Kitten”.

Fluorite - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Fluorite - digital knitting pattern - PDF
Fluorite - digital knitting pattern - PDF

Faded knitwear is still very popular, not to mention great for using up single skeins!

This loose-fitting seamless sweater, worked top down with unconventional overlong trumpet sleeves, is your canvas to play with colors.

With the stitch pattern, born out of improvising with increases, I came up when I wanted to create something more intricate, with a unique color scheme and an interesting texture that would appeal to the wild girl in every knitter, too.

Here, you can turn the general idea and technical recommendations for blending colorways into your very own color adventure in knit. Detailed fading instructions are included on page 4 of the pattern. It is up to you to decide whether you’d like to work this garment in one color, emphasizing the texture of the pretty twisted ribbing lines, or from the minimum of three to as many colors as you like from your riotous remnant basket.

“Laceback” is a loose-fitting summer top worked from the top down. Elegant lace panels in a leafy vine pattern decorate the back and extend onto both sleeves, which are worked in a modified raglan construction and feature different shaping for front and back.

Eyelets are added to the sleeves and at the sides just for fun, but can be threaded with your choice of i-cord or satin ribbon for a different look, making this top a versatile garment for many occasions with just the right amount of feminine touch.
