About Us

After having watched our mom, spouse and daughter knitting for many years and seeing her enthusiasm about teaming up yarns with pattern ideas, we decided we’d like to join her in this activity and support her by dyeing our very own yarns for her. While everybody in the family helps with various tasks around the process according to their abilities, the actual dyeing is done by the most scientifically inclined of us all, Daniel.

We were thrilled that we can help Hanna this way because having custom-dyed yarns to go with her patterns enables her to synchronize pattern and yarn so they are a perfect pair! While it is wonderful to get inspired by ready-made gradient sets, designing a pattern for one is often restricted by having to use up all the colors in it in the amounts that come in the set. Yarns dyed exactly to a designer’s imagination, on the other hand, are more individualized since the exact amount the designer imagines for each color can be included in the set, or the yarn can be dyed a specific way to exactly match the pattern for extra special effects.

As a family, we are glad that we can work together to create something unique in our own home and send it out into the world to be enjoyed by knitters in so many countries.

None of our merino fibers comes from farms practicing mulesing.
