Torun Shawl Kit - "Gotyk"

A kit to make the shawl "Torun" designed by Hanna Maciejewska.

This set includes:

* 4 skeins of Dye Dye Done Pure Merino in unique colors (one skein of each color)

Care:

• hand wash in 30 st C

With hand-dyed yarn, no two skeins are identical, even from the same batch. For the best appearance of a finished item, alternating skeins is recommended.

Slight bleeding may occur on the first wash.

We have done our best to show the colors as accurate as possible; however, please keep in mind that all monitors are different.

Pattern description:

We do have a strong knitting community in Poland. Organized knitting meetings are very popular, with knitting friends meeting for coffee, chatting, and of course knitting together.

Every year in September, two of my friends, myself and our respective husbands collaborate in organizing an annual knitting meeting held in Toruń, called “Drutozlot”, where we host knitters from different places in Poland, and even a few participants from abroad. We also invite talented Polish indie hand dyers to attend so knitters can buy their yarn.

Since my husband is also an indie yarn dyer, he and I have decided to join forces this year and prepare something special, something characteristic for Toruń and for “Drutozlot”…

Something that would remind everybody of our meeting, colors and architecture of Toruń Old Town, delicious gingerbreads …

As a result, the “Toruń” shawl was born. This lovely crescent-shaped shawl is designed to show off the gorgeous gothic colorways of Dye Dye Done delicious Pure Merino. Simple garter stitch sections emphasize the beauty of the yarn while stitch patterns incorporating unusually large openings add visual interest.

* Dye Dye Done Pure Merino (100% Merino): 100g/ 437 yards [400 meters]

* US 4 – 3.5 mm 40" [100 cm] circular needle

* Tapestry needle

One Size:

* Finished measurements: length (outer edge): 77.25" [196 cm]; depth (center): 22.75" [58 cm]

Gauge:

* 22 sts and 36 rows per 4" [10 cm] in garter stitch after blocking
